How I get better at making decisions

Here's how I know if I am getting better at making decisions 👇

I keep a personal Slack and every time I feel like I am making a big decision, I record it in my #decisiondiary channel.

Here's what I record:

1. Date of the decision
2. Date in future I plan to review
3. Decision description
4. Desired outcome
5. Why I believe the desired outcome will happen based on the thought put in
6. If the desired outcome doesn’t happen, what are the consequences
7. How I feel at the time of the decision

I have been tracking decisions for over 1 year. Here's a few takeaways:

➡ One year ago, my big decisions were $2k. Now my big decisions are $25k+.

➡ Business and personal decisions were equally weighted and frequent in the diary.

➡ Rarely did the "desired outcome" I recorded match what actually happened, but the results were often still positive.

➡ Moving forward I want to track if I should be the person making the decision. As companies grow, my role is to empower others to make decisions.
